This documentation elaborates on the Jira Change Failure Rate KPI features, data blocks, charts, filters, and the formula based on the filters applied. This KPI always depicts the 15 most recent results from the selected Date Range, customized in KPI Settings. You may also customize the results displayed to only include specific Jira Change Types and Jira Projects in the KPI Settings.

Jira Change Failure Rate KPI

This KPI basically measures the rate of failures that occurs due to changes. This KPI will require the specific Change Types that are relevant to restoring failures, and then the change failure rate will be calculated based on the total changes that happened over a given period of time.

• Change Failure Rate - Percentage of Total number of Failures occurred. For the selected list of change types, (total number of changes due to failure/total number of changes)*100. This data block also has smart indicators that indicates how the change failure rate has been for the same previous number of days/weeks.

• Change Failure Rate Chart - The chart depicts the trend in the Change Failure Rate over a given period of time. The legends in the chart also includes the total changes and failure counts.

Filters

Some of the filters are common ones, such as tags, and Date filter.

Filters that are specific to this KPI are the Jira Project filter, and the Change Type filter.

Jira Project Filter - Select a Jira Project that helps to track/calculate the Change Failure Rate.

Change Type - In order to measure the failure count, it is necessary to know what type of change is considered to be a change due to failure.
